Under construction

Clancy jumped with the others. The ack-ack was something else. Bullets pierced holes in his chute as he drifted to the earth. The prop blast had ripped most of his equipment away (?) He landed in a tree and was helped down by a fellow trooper. Three of them began their way towards. They hid under a bridge at one point. Spotted some Germans heading south at another.   and landed miles from where they had planned to. He landed between one and two miles from Sainte Mere Eglise as he would later learn the name of the place.

As fate would have it, Sainte Mere Eglise would be the first town in France liberated from the Germans in the Normandy invasion.

I was there the morning of June 6 70 years later and listened to the bells ring out as they had once again when the village was liberated. It was a remarkable feeling to know I was there where Clancy had been, hearing the ringing of Churchbells 70 years later.
